Chartering a Private Jet Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated

Most first-time enquiries start the same way: someone needs to be somewhere, fast, and a commercial flight isn’t going to make it happen.

Good news. Chartering a private jet really comes down to four decisions, made with someone who picks up the phone and handles the rest.

At AVMIN, we coordinate private jet charters across Australia every day, for executives racing between meetings, FIFO crews needing a seat at short notice, and everyone in between. Whether you’re travelling on a light private jet, turboprop or larger charter aircraft, the booking process is much the same.

Here’s exactly how the process works.

Step 1: Define Your Trip

Start with the basics, we’ll need to know where you’re flying, how many passengers, and roughly when.

You don’t need exact numbers before you get in touch. If your dates are still moving or your headcount isn’t locked in, tell us what you know and we’ll work around the rest.

Flying to Sydney, Brisbane, or Perth? Tell us your route and we’ll take it from there.

Step 2: Choose an Aircraft Type

Aircraft range from six-seat turboprops for a quick regional hop up to heavy jets that carry a full executive team long-haul, with several sizes in between.

AVMIN works with operators across the country and internationally, not just whoever’s based nearby. If the right aircraft for your trip is interstate, that’s not a problem.

Most people don’t know which aircraft they need when they first enquire. That’s completely normal. Give us the route and passenger numbers, and we’ll recommend the most suitable aircraft for your requirements.

Step 3: Get a Quote

With your trip details in hand, we check aircraft availability and prepare a detailed quotation covering the aircraft, positioning costs and any additional services you require.

Most quotes land in your inbox within a few hours, not days.

Pricing depends on distance, aircraft type, and timing.

Step 4: Confirm Your Booking

Happy with the quote? From there, it’s on us.

We manage the entire booking process, including aircraft confirmation, passenger manifests, operator liaison, airport coordination and itinerary planning. If passenger names or travel details change, there’s generally far more flexibility than scheduled airline bookings, with updates often possible right up until the applicable flight or check-in close-off time.

You will receive a detailed charter brief and departure instructions before travel, so there are no surprises on the day.

What to Expect on the Day

Your departure experience will depend on the aircraft and airport being used.

For smaller private aircraft operating from dedicated charter terminals, passengers can often just arrive 15 to 30 minutes before departure, park close to the terminal and board the aircraft within minutes.

For larger charter aircraft operating through domestic terminals, standard airport check-in, security screening and boarding procedures generally apply, with check-in typically closing around 30 minutes before departure. Your AVMIN Charter Specialist will advise the required arrival time well before your flight.

Where private terminal facilities are used, luggage is loaded directly onto the aircraft without the queues associated with commercial travel. For charter flights departing from domestic terminals, normal airport baggage procedures apply.

Smaller aircraft do have luggage size and weight limitations, so we’ll discuss these with you during the booking process to avoid any surprises on the day.

Catering can be arranged to your preference, from light refreshments through to full meal service, with dietary requirements organised in advance. Ground transport can also be arranged at either end of your journey.

Whether you’re departing from a private terminal or a commercial airport, AVMIN provides clear instructions before departure, making the travel experience as smooth and straightforward as possible.

FAQs

  • How do I hire a private jet in Australia?

Get in touch with your route, passenger numbers, and preferred dates. Rough details are fine to start, we'll narrow it down together. We'll match you with an aircraft and send a quote, usually within a few hours.

  • What should I know about booking a private jet for the first time?

Less than you'd expect. You won't need to navigate a booking platform yourself. You'll speak with a real person who manages the trip from quote to landing.

  • How much does chartering a private jet cost?

Pricing depends on the aircraft, flight time, positioning requirements and operational factors. Our Private Jet Charter Cost Guide provides indicative hourly rates, pricing for different aircraft categories, and example aircraft to help you understand what type of charter best suits your journey and budget.

  • How far in advance should I book?

While a few days notice provides the widest range of aircraft options, AVMIN can often arrange smaller charter aircraft with just a few hours notice, subject to aircraft and crew availability. For larger aircraft or peak travel periods, booking earlier is recommended.

  • Can I bring pets or extra luggage?

Generally, yes. Pets, additional luggage, golf clubs and oversized items can often be accommodated, provided we know in advance. We’ll recommend an aircraft that suits your passengers and luggage requirements rather than asking you to fit within standard airline limitations.
